A big weekend of gymnastics is coming to Chicagoland in 2018! In a span of two days, fans can see three exciting events at the Sears Centre Arena, March 2-3, that between them feature top and rising stars from the USA and around the world.
The American Cup, the USA’s most prestigious international invitational, returns to the Sears Centre. In 2009, Jordyn Wieber won her first of three titles prior to winning a gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games. The American Cup’s rich history dates back to 1976, and past champions include Bart Conner, Nadia Comaneci, Mary Lou Retton, Shannon Miller, Shawn Johnson, Paul Hamm, Carly Patterson, Danell Leyva, Nastia Liukin, Sam Mikulak and Simone Biles. The American Cup takes center stage on Saturday, March 3.
The Nastia Liukin Cup, entering its ninth year, kicks off the weekend on Friday night with a showcase of many of the country’s rising Junior Olympic stars. Three-time Olympic Champion Gabby Douglas competed in the 2010 Nastia Liukin Cup before going on to her first Olympics in 2012 and won the 2016 American Cup on her road to Rio.
The weekend wraps up Saturday night with the Elite Team Cup. The event features men’s top junior elite gymnasts competing on nine regional teams with one senior gymnast on each team. Olympian John Orozco won the initial Elite Team Cup all-around crown in 2016.
Don't miss this opportunity to see many of the world's best gymnasts at the American Cup, as well as the country's rising men and women, during this special weekend of gymnastics.
